Key Takeaways from Peppermint’s Responsible AI Event with Irwin Mitchell and Acuity Law

On 12 September 2024, Peppermint held their Responsible AI event at Microsoft's HQ, joined by speakers from Microsoft, PwC, and Harbor to discuss the complex yet opportunistic journey of AI in the legal sector, with a strong focus on maintaining responsible practices.

Martin Baker, Enterprise Architect at Irwin Mitchell and Rob Heaton, Operations Director at Acuity Law shared some compelling insights about adopting AI in the legal industry. Their perspective sheds light on the challenges and opportunities firms face when it comes to embracing new technologies like AI.

Martin shares his insights in the video below:

Rob adds to this by stating “In a traditionally risk-averse sector, the level of risk, compliance and governance frameworks that can be put in place can be daunting. Particularly when you are a mid-tier firm, and don’t have unlimited resources, this can put challenges in the way of adopting technology that could have huge benefits to a firm. Embrace AI, understand you cannot remove risk entirely or always predict where risks will develop from. Do not let fear of what could go wrong with AI prevent you from adopting it.”

Rob notes how Peppermint has helped Acuity Law deliver value by highlighting “Specifically, we have developed on the native portal function of Peppermint to release “My Digital Lawyer”. This is a value add product to our existing clients and a standalone purchase offering to new businesses, providing access to key matter information as well as legal guides, document automation templates and other resources.”

Peppermint is committed to responsible AI and are actively developing their AI capabilities in the platform. Click the button below to find out more.
